(KRON) — The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is fighting two vegetation fires in Antioch.

One fire is in the area of Marina Plaza and the other is off Slaton Ranch Road.

The Marina Plaza fire was about half of an acre in size before it grew to approximately five acres. It involves grass and tule, Con Fire said. Additional resources have been requested to fight the blaze.

Everytime they do sweeps of the unhoused, there are fires set. I live in Antioch near the marina, and they swept the encampment by City Hall today, WITHOUT notifying the Angelo Quinton Mental Health team the county response team! This is against the law and a City Council member came out of a meeting and walked up to the police who were ordered by the Interim City Manager, Kwame Reed, to conduct the sweeps today. This news station needs to do a story on this. Antioch does NOT have any places to house these individuals so this is a travesty of justice and these people's rights.
