Bay Area boba chain opens new location in Newark

(KRON) – A Los Altos-based boba store is expanding throughout the Bay Area. Teaspoon is opening its first location in Newark.

The first Teaspoon location opened in Los Altos in 2015 with the goal of making boba accessible to everyone. The boba shop now has 47 locations across five states.

Teaspoon is known for its colorful, customizable drinks. According to the Teaspoon's website, its drinks are "designed to captivate your taste buds."

The grand opening is scheduled at noon on Saturday, September 7. The first 100 guests will receive a Teaspoon glass bottle. The store will also have a buy one get one free promo that weekend.

A Teaspoon spokesperson told KRON4 that the store's grand openings are Teaspoon's way of "connecting with the community."

The Newark Teaspoon is located at 39730 Cedar Blvd.

Teaspoon has multiple stores opening around the Bay Area, including a location in Windsor that is slated to open in late September. The boba shop will also soon be opening in Petaluma in late November, according to the Teaspoon spokesperson.
