( KRON ) — A neighborhood in Richmond’s Iron Triangle area remains under lockdown due to an armed suspect search Monday morning, according to the Richmond Police Department. Earlier, an alert from the Contra Costa County Community Warning System stated that the situation had been resolved and the lockdown lifted.

However, law enforcement officials said that the scene remains active, and the shelter-in-place is still in effect.

Residents in the area of the 500 block of Second Street have been advised to lock down in the nearest place of safety. The alert advised residents to go inside and close and lock all windows and doors.

The Richmond Police Department told KRON4.com it first received a call about a possible armed suspect in the area at 7:40 a.m. Monday. The call came in reporting a suspicious armed person, officials said.

Richmond PD is attempting to make contact with a possibly armed individual who has been seen going in and out of a residence in the neighborhood.

A two-block radius in the area of Davilla Road and Second Street was shut down with people asked to shelter in place. Residents are advised to stay off the phone and only call 911 in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Residents were advised to stay inside until further official instructions are given.

Others were advised to avoid the area.
