( KRON ) — A group of bystanders stopped a driver from fleeing the scene of a crash on International Boulevard on Monday, as shown in the video from the scene (above). The driver is suspected of killing a teenager before fleeing the scene and causing another crash. Police said he may have been drunk.

The first crash happened on the 7200 block of International Boulevard. Two pedestrians were struck, including a 17-year-old who was killed, police said. The other victim was hospitalized and is now in stable condition.

Lawsuit filed against Contra Costa County and Antioch for failing to protect baby girl

The driver then fled the scene and crashed again on the 8400 block of International Boulevard. That’s where the video shows a group of citizens surrounding the suspected driver and telling him, “You are not going nowhere.”

Video from the scene shows multiple cars with significant damage, including a red sedan believed to be the suspect car. The possible suspect is captured on video denying that he was driving the car.

“Everybody from the community pretty much wasn’t going for it because there was blood dripping from his forehead,” said Dante Shaw, who witnessed the second crash and shot the video obtained by KRON4. At the 30-second mark in the video, citizens can be seen telling the suspect to stay put.

The possible suspect was walking around the scene before citizens walked him to the street and told him to sit down. He is later seen being led away by Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies in handcuffs.

“Thanks to the assistance of local residents and motorists, Deputies from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office took the driver into custody,” OPD said.

“That’s what a lot of people in Oakland do have is a good heart,” Shaw said. “It’s a rough city, but it is what it is.”

OPD did not identify the suspect.
