SFO-based K-9 ‘Barni’ is finalist in TSA’s ‘Cutest Canine’ contest

SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — A German shorthaired pointer named “Barni” who works at San Francisco International Airport is a finalist in this year’s Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Cutest Canine contest. Barni, according to the TSA, is five years old and works with his handler at SFO.

Barni is one of two finalists in this year’s contest. Voting is currently underway and will close at 9 a.m. Thursday.

“I am not surprised that Barni is a finalist for TSA’s cutest canine. He catches the eye of travelers as he works his way through the airport,” said TSA Federal Security Director for SFO, Fred Lau. “Most people don’t realize how highly trained he is as an explosive detection canine and how we rely on his skills to keep travelers departing SFO safe and secure. I am solidly on Team Barni and hope that you will join me in voting for him in this year’s TSA Cutest Canine contest!”

Voting in the contest is conducted via TSA’s social media platforms, including Instagram , X and Facebook .
