    Portugal. The Man free show announced for SF Civic Center

    SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Portugal. The Man has been announced as the headliner for the next free show in San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza. The Portland-based indie rock outfit will play Civic Center Plaza on Friday, Sept. 20, according to Another Planet Entertainment (APE).

    The event is the latest in a series of free concerts put on by Another Planet Entertainment around SF. In May, APE put on a rave in Civic Center, headlined by high-wattage EDM DJs Skrillex and Fred Again . That event drew more than 20,000 people.

    In July, a free music festival in Embarcadero Plaza was headlined by DJs Sacha Robotti, Moody Jones and Deron Delgado.

    “Over the past decade, Portugal. The Man has established themselves as one of rock’s most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites,” said APE, which also produces the annual Outside Lands festival .

    Originally from Alaska, Portugal. The Man won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their track, “Feel It Still,” off their acclaimed “Woodstock” album. In addition to their music, the band is also known for their commitment to social justice causes.

    September’s free SF show is open to all ages. Tickets are available by RSVPing through the Another Planet Entertainment website .
