( KRON ) — The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most controversial vehicles on the road today. Either you think it’s the coolest car out there or the ugliest thing you’ve ever seen. There seems to be no in-between.
Well, now you can test drive it at North America’s largest electric vehicle festival, which takes place this weekend in the Bay Area. Electrify Expo is stopping in Alameda this weekend, festival organizers said in a news release.
The two-day festival will be held on Aug. 24-25 at 2151 Ferry Point in Alameda from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
It will be more than one million square feet of outdoor space showcasing the latest EVs and their technologies from established automakers — like Tesla, Toyota, Kia, BMW and Lexus — and also “new players and early-stage companies.” In addition to EVs, electric motorcycles, bikes, scooters and skateboards will also be showcased.
For the first time ever, the festival will host “exclusive” test drives of the Tesla Cybertruck, which debuted in late 2023. This will be Electrify Expo’s only festival stop in which attendees can test drive the controversial Tesla truck.
“Tesla is leveraging Electrify Expo’s stop in the Bay Area as the only place in North America for people to experience the thrill and fun-factor of the Cybertruck that weekend,” BJ Birtwell, CEO and founder of Electrify Expo, said in the release. “The Cybertruck has reimagined what is possible with an electric pickup truck and attendees will get a first-hand experience to feel the power and capabilities of this special vehicle.”
Electrify Expo will debut a few new vehicles at the Bay Area location.

For those who have been driving gas-powered vehicles for years, driving an EV may be a stark contrast to what they have been accustomed to. The festival gives prospective EV buyers a chance to look at the vehicle without the sales pressure of going to a dealership.
“Electrify Expo offers an exciting and interactive platform where consumers can explore and test drive EVs in a relaxed setting, enabling them to make informed decisions,” the festival said in the press release. “At the same time, this event gives companies a valuable opportunity to engage with potential buyers in a lively and stress-free environment.”
