    Pedestrian dead after fatal collision in San Jose

    ( KRON ) – The San Jose Police Department is investigating the city’s 13th pedestrian death of the year.

    A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle near Automation Parkway and Hostetter Road at 8:49 p.m. on Thursday. The adult male victim was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

    San Jose PD said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

    They should create some type of barrier that will obstruck the vehicles from being in or crossing the intersection when the light is going to change. We all know that we shouldn't, but sometimes push the guards. If there was a solid wall waiting on the other side of the intersection, we wouldn't run the lights. There's always that Catch-22 issue. You're not really able to do that because of things like emergency vehicles needing to get through traffic quite often they havetogothroughred lights or even have vehicles blocking them enter the intersection to make a clear path for them to proceed.

    There's several traffic lights/signals in that area. It's extremely dark in so many sections that you'd better watch out for oncoming vehicles because they're likely not watching out for you.
