    Petaluma woman accused of chasing victim with machete arrested

    ( KRON ) – A woman was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after chasing a victim with a machete, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

    Petaluma police officers were alerted of a dispute in the 700 block of Marin Way at 4:22 p.m. on Thursday.

    En route to the scene, officers were notified that the suspect armed herself with a machete and was chasing the victim around a residence. Police were informed that the victim barricaded himself in a nearby room.

    The suspect entered the room where the victim was barricaded. Police said after a “brief confrontation,” the suspect fled the room. Petaluma PD said “no contact was made” with the victim. The suspect then fled the residence and the victim stayed barricaded in the room.

    The suspect was identified as 50-year-old Petaluma resident Heather Doyle.

    Responding officers surrounded the residence and attempted to make contact with the occupants. The victim and a second uninvolved resident evacuated the residence.

    Police entered the home to find Doyle and realized she fled. Petaluma PD said they received new information that Doyle may have fled to Novato.

    The Novato Police Department located Doyle’s vehicle and took her into custody. Petaluma police later took custody of Doyle.

    Doyle was arrested and booked at the Sonoma County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Petaluma PD said there were no injuries reported and the weapon was recovered.
