    Man killed after shooting inside Berkeley homeless shelter: police

    ( KRON ) — A man was killed after a shooting inside a home on Sunday, the Berkeley Police Department said. The shooting happened before 5:30 p.m. at Harrison House Shelter.

    BPD officers arrived at the house and discovered a man was shot inside, police said. Officers tried to revive the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The suspected shooter fled the scene and remains at large. At this time, BPD does not have a suspect description.

    Harrison House Shelter, located at 711 Harrison St., is a few blocks away from UC Village Park. The shooting marks the fourth homicide in Berkeley this year, the third via gun, BPD said.

    Police did not say whether or not the victim was a resident of the homeless shelter. The circumstances of what led to the shooting are unknown at this time.
