( KRON ) — Two minors were involved in a stabbing incident Monday afternoon in Pleasanton, the Pleasanton Police Department (PPD) announced in a news release. Around 2:55 p.m., officers responded to a car crash at an undisclosed location.

Several individuals were seen running away from the scene, police said. With the help of an East Bay Regional Parks helicopter, police spotted the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. The driver had a stab wound to the torso.

It was later discovered the injured minor had been stabbed by another minor before the crash, according to PPD. Officers recovered a knife from the scene. The stabbed individual was taken to the hospital and was released later that same day.

Police are calling the stabbing an isolated incident. They believe the suspect and victim knew each other before the stabbing. Police said there is “no indication of a wider threat.”

As of Monday night, PPD has not announced any arrests in connection to the stabbing. The department says anyone with information about the case is asked to call 925-931-5100.
