‘Brazen’ robbery at San Rafael consignment store caught on camera, suspects at large

( KRON ) — A “brazen” store robbery on Tuesday in San Rafael was caught on camera, the San Rafael Police Department announced in a news release. The robbery happened around 5 p.m. at the Home Consignment Center where several suspects were seen smashing display cases and stealing jewelry.

Five masked suspects entered the store with small sledgehammers, police said. Video posted by SRPD (above) shows four of the suspects blitzing the jewelry display cases while one serves as a lookout at the front entrance.

The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry, according to SRPD. About a minute later, they were seen escaping in a white Toyota Highlander SUV.

The video shows three of the suspects smashing the display cases wearing black hooded sweatshirts while the fourth one was wearing a dark orange colored hooded sweatshirt.

No bystanders or civilians were harmed during the robbery, police said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made. Police said the suspects are dangerous and should “not be approached under any circumstances.”
