SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) – September marks six years since a 20-year-old man was shot in the back and killed in San Francisco. The cold case murder remains unsolved.

The victim’s grieving father hopes a $100,000 reward will help generate solid leads and justice.

Simoun Sacdalan’s voice still cracks when he talks about his late son Ryan – a student at City College of San Francisco with dreams of becoming a barber when he was gunned down six years ago.

“It’s been hard. Very hard. Painful. Just, you know, suffering with broken hearts,” he said.

Sacdalan says his son loved sports and mostly stayed out of trouble. On Sept. 18th, 2018, the San Francisco Police Department says Ryan was shot in the back on the corner of 46th Avenue and Moraga Street in the Sunset District a few blocks away from Ocean Beach.

In a flyer offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case, police say Sacdalan was running from an altercation when he was wounded.

“I just can’t believe that we’re at this place where we still don’t have answers on anything that went on that day. I thought we had some leads, but I guess we don’t,” Simoun said.

Leads have dried up. The Sacdalans hope someone who can shed light on what happened reaches out to police.

“Still trying to search for answers,” Simoun said. “Trying to figure out what exactly happened and just trying to find out anything, you know? If anybody could just step forward.”

Ryan Sacdalan is survived by his parents and six siblings.
