(KRON) — An employee at a San Francisco store was stabbed after confronting a thief on Friday morning, the San Francisco Police Department said.

SFPD responded to the 300 block of Montgomery Street at about 9:30 a.m. The employee was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The investigation revealed that an unknown male was attempting to steal store merchandise when the employee confronted the male. During the confrontation the male stabbed the employee and fled the scene in an unknown direction,” SPFD said.

Police have not arrested a suspect.

Useless article. Describe the thief so he might be caught! SF has done a great job in crime fighting; the next step is to stop crime before it starts. Criminals need to know they will be identified and caught so they’ll think twice before they commit a crime. Also why don’t we hear who received the stolen goods? Crime will dry up if there is no market for stolen goods. Arrest the recipients of those items. Jail might not be the right end point but fear of arrest might help dry up the market for stolen goods. SF is a great city and has an excellent mayor and city leadership but let’s rid ourselves of the mostly out of town criminals and those who fund thieves to make it that much better.
