( KRON ) — Two women who allegedly stole $1,600 worth of merchandise from a Target over the weekend were arrested for organized retail theft, according to the San Mateo Police Department. San Mateo PD officers were dispatched to the San Mateo Bridgepointe Target on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9:25 p.m.

Target loss prevention reported two people concealing items within the store. Officers arrived and saw the suspects concealing items on surveillance cameras. Officers watched the women only pay for two unconcealed items and exit the store.

They were detained and searched outside. One of the suspects, Tammy Boston, 35, of San Francisco, had someone else’s driver’s license and debit card, police said. The other suspect, identified as Marquilla Coleman Williams, 32, also of San Francisco, had her 3-year-old daughter with her while allegedly committing the thefts.

Other family members arrived on the scene to retrieve the child.

Police determined that Boston had stolen $918.40 worth of merchandise while Coleman Williams allegedly stole $778.57. Coleman Williams, it was discovered, was on probation for theft.

Her probation clause allowed for a search of her vehicle and police found drug paraphernalia and illegal pepper spray. Following her arrest, police said Coleman Williams became “extremely agitated.” She began to harm herself and attacked a paramedic.

It was determined that Coleman Williams was also pregnant and needed to be medically cleared. The following day, she was cleared and transported to county jail and booked on charges that included:

    • Resist of delay a police officer
    • Battery on a protected person
    • Conspiracy to commit a crime
    • Organized retail theft
    • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
    • Attempted homicide of an unborn child

Boston was also transported to county jail and booked on these charges:

    • False impersonation,
    • Organized retail theft
    • Conspiracy to commit a crime
    • Theft of misappropriation of lost property

The women intended to sell the stolen merchandise at a San Francisco flea market to make a profit, according to police.

California treats all shoplifters with kid gloves. Even the thieves who steal millions only end up serving a year or two. I encourage thieves from around the world and other states to come to California and enjoy yourselves as our clueless politicians scratch themselves trying to figure out why so many thieves are emptying out businesses.
