Lake County fire sparks evacuation orders, Cal Fire says

( KRON ) — A grass fire burning in Lake County’s Kelseyville has sparked evacuation orders on Tuesday afternoon, Cal Fire’s Sonoma and Lake-Napa crews announced.

Specific evacuation orders are for zone KEL-E146. Evacuation warnings are set in place for zones KEL-E152, and KEL-E134. “Please avoid the area,” Cal Fire said. More info can be found here .

As of 6:20 p.m., Cal Fire said the grass fire’s forward progress has stopped.

Evacuation orders , according to Cal Fire, require residents to “leave immediately.” The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said they established a temporary evacuation point at Twin Pine Casino & Hotel.

“Further shelter instructions will follow if established,” officials said.

Evacuation warnings , according to Cal Fire, require residents to perform “protective actions” and prepare for evacuations if need be.

Here are some instructions residents should follow for warnings , according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office:

• Gather all family members and pets.
• Take essential items and medications.
• Turn off appliances, lights, and lock your home before leaving.

The sheriff’s office said to monitor local media and to not call 9-1-1 for information.

Firefighters said they are battling the grass fire that initially sparked off Harbor Road in Kelseyville near Clearlake.

As of 5:15 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire is approximately four acres large and “burning uphill at a rapid rate of spread.”

This Lake County fire is burning several miles northeast of the Boyles Fire, which Cal Fire says is currently at 50% containment.
