    Brothel busted in South San Francisco apartment complex

    ( KRON ) — A brothel operating out of a South San Francisco apartment complex was busted last week, according to the South San Francisco Police Department. SSFPD detectives had been gathering information for several weeks regarding a commercial sex operation at an apartment in the downtown area of South SF.

    Detectives with the SSFPD Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU) conducted surveillance and were able to substantiate the reports of an active brothel. Detectives authored a search warrant for the apartment that was served on Thursday, Sept. 5.

    Police contacted two suspected Johns and two human trafficking survivors while serving the warrant. The survivors were debriefed and offered services, police said.

    Officers also made contact with Xiuli Wei, 65, of Rowland Heights. Wei was determined to be assisting in managing the daily operations of the brother. According to police, he directly benefitted from its proceddeds.

    Police also seized around $10,000 in cash from the apartment, which was believed to be proceeds from the brothel’s operation. Wei was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for pimping and pandering offenses.
