( KRON ) — The Petaluma Police Department (PPD) is investigating a possible threat against two high schools in the city, it announced Wednesday in a Nixle alert . Police have been made aware of a threat that is directed at Casa Grande High School and Petaluma High School.

The threat suggests that an act of violence would happen at at least one of those campuses Friday afternoon, according to Petaluma police. The department was made aware of the threat via the “STOPit” application.

PPD’s dispatch center then received multiple calls from concerned parents and students about a post on social media where the threat was made.

“Outside of the social media post, there has been no information that leads us to believe that the threat is credible,” Petaluma police wrote. “However, the Petaluma Police Department treats all threats seriously and will be diligently investigating the incident thoroughly.”
