( KRON ) – A robbery suspect, who threw rocks at a store manager, stole more than $3,000 worth of tools from a retail store, according to the Colma Police Department.

At 4:04 p.m. on Sunday, Colma PD was dispatched to the 2500 block of Hillside Boulevard for a robbery that occurred. Officers were informed that a man who committed theft the day prior also robbed the store on Sunday. Police said they were told that the suspect stole property while in a shed in the store.

The incident escalated once the manager confronted the man. The suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Hugo Pelaezmayen, began throwing rocks at the manager and then fled to a nearby neighborhood, according to Colma PD.

South San Francisco Police Department assisted in locating Pelaezmayen by setting up a perimeter. A resident contacted the police to inform them that Pelaezmayen was in their backyard.

Police detained the suspect and arrested him after receiving confirmation from the store’s manager that he was the perpetrator.

In searching Pelaezmayen, police said they found drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.
