VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) — Vallejo police made a loaded discovery during a traffic violation stop for a driver’s missing front license plate.

The incident unfolded Friday near the intersection of Mendocino and Louisiana Streets when officers pulled over the vehicle, a 2017 white Cadillac CTS.

When speaking with the driver, the officers reported seeing “a loaded, unserialized firearm with a high-capacity magazine in plain view on the rear passenger floorboard,” said Vallejo Police Department (VPD). The gun was seized as evidence.

Officials said the vehicle was towed and the driver was arrested without incident. There is no word on specific charges they will face.
