SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – The Pac-12 is back, kind of. It still only has two members at the moment: Oregon State and Washington State. But in 2026, it will have six members with the additions of Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State.

Could Sacramento State join the Pac-12?

A committee called “Sac 12” was formed on Friday to help take Sacramento State “to the next level by also joining the Pac-12.”

“This committee is on a mission to show the whole country what we here in Sacramento already know, that the Sac State Hornets are a force to be reckoned with on every field, court, pitch, track and course in the country,” said California senator Angelique Ashby. “They are absolutely PAC-12 ready!”

A press release points out that the Hornets won seven conference championships in 2023, and if they were added to the Pac-12 they would make up the largest media market in the conference.
