( KRON ) — A Livermore man is in custody in connection to a stolen vehicle operation, California Highway Patrol announced in a Facebook post on Monday. He is accused of possessing three stolen vehicles (pictured below): an orange Chevrolet Corvette, a dark-colored Jeep SUV and a Dodge sedan.

All three vehicles were recovered by authorities, according to CHP. The investigation into this stolen vehicle operation began in July when investigators were notified about a faulty car registration.

The vehicle involved in that registration did not match the car and was likely switched to mask the fact it was stolen, CHP said. Officials did not say which of the three vehicles it was.

As the investigation went on, a suspect — who CHP did not identify — is believed to be responsible for selling the stolen vehicle. A search warrant was eventually issued for the suspect’s Livermore residence.

Upon searching his home, at least two more stolen vehicles with identification numbers that had been switched were located, according to CHP.

CHP did not say when the suspect was arrested. His name is being withheld as CHP continues to investigate.

“The sale of used vehicles between private parties is common in California, but the CHP wants to remind buyers to remember that if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is,” CHP wrote in a Facebook post . “Operations like this will bring stolen vehicles from other states into California, where their identification numbers are switched and sold to unsuspecting buyers. When the new owner attempts to register the vehicle, they soon discover the truth. As most of these transactions are cash only, the buyer is left with nothing, and the seller cannot be contacted.”
