    Shots fired after argument breaks out during custody exchange in Richmond

    ( KRON ) — A man fired shots at a car carrying young children in Richmond on Saturday evening, the Richmond Police Department said.

    The altercation happened during a custody exchange on the 3500 block of Nevin Avenue at about 6:50 p.m. The involved parties got into an argument, and the man involved pulled out a gun and fired shots at the female victim as she tried to drive away.

    Three children were in the car, including two kids younger than 2 years old. Nobody was injured as the shots struck the car.

    With the help of a drone and other police departments, RPD officers found the suspect hiding in a crawl space in a house on the 3600 block of Barrett Avenue.

    Officers found the gun, which was determined to be stolen. The suspect, who was not identified, is facing charges of attempted murder, child abuse, violating a restraining order, domestic violence, possession of a stolen firearm and more.
