(KRON) — Two suspects have been identified in connection to a double shooting in August near The Crow’s Nest restaurant by the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor.

On Tuesday, the Santa Cruz Police Department identified the attempted murder suspects as Moses Dollar and Jakaella Porter.

Detectives tracked 21-year-old Dollar down in Southern California last week, and with assistance from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, took Dollar into custody. He was transported back to Santa Cruz and booked into the county jail Monday, SCPD said.

“A female associated with the case, Jakaella Porter, has an outstanding warrant for conspiracy and attempted homicide,” SCPD wrote. Porter is not in custody, jail inmate records show.

Two victims were shot just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 in a parking lot between the harbor and The Crow’s Nest restaurant. The victims suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a trauma center.

Police officers said they discovered that an “altercation” happened just before the shooting. A gunman opened fire and fled in a black Dodge Charger. “After an extensive investigation, SCPD’s Investigation Bureau identified the suspects,” the police department wrote.

Dollar is scheduled to make his first court appearance for an arraignment on Wednesday. Prosecutors charged Dollar with attempted murder, as well as firearms-related charges.

The shooting prompted Santa Cruz officials to shut down a popular beach party event indefinitely. Harbor officials previously wrote, “The Santa Cruz Port District must announce the cancellation of this summer’s remaining Thursday Night Beach Barbeque events, which are part of a free public event series hosted by The Crow’s Nest.”

Port Director Holland MacLaurie said the decision was the best course of action as officials evaluate public safety impacts associated with large gatherings at the harbor.
