( KRON ) — The death of a woman found unresponsive at her home on Monday night is being investigated as suspicious, according to the Hayward Police Department. Hayward PD responded at around 10:36 p.m. to the 2700 block of Eucalyptus Court on a report of a disturbance.

The reporting party, police said, called 911 after a family member indicated that something had happened at the residence. Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim, a 47-year-old woman, unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s cause of death remains under investigation. Officers also found the woman’s husband — a 47-year-old man — at the scene. According to police, he was suffering from “self-inflicted lacerations.”

The husband was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The husband and wife’s identities are known, police said. However, they are not being released at this time, pending formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office and notification of next of kin.

The incident, police said, is being investigated as a suspicious death. The investigation is ongoing.
