( KRON ) — This is it. The A’s have played their final game in Oakland on Thursday , a 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers. It’s a sad day for fans, including many who have been watching the A’s at the Coliseum for decades since they first arrived in the 1960s.

Thousands who attended the team’s finale in Oakland received a commemorative ticket and a toy replica of the Coliseum. However, fans wanted more as a way to remember years’ worth of attending A’s games at 7000 S Coliseum Way.

    Something they can cherish forever.

In Wednesday night’s game against the Rangers, an A’s groundskeeper put dirt in fans’ cups and bottles to take home. Video on X posted by KRON4’s Ben Ross has since gone viral with more than 7 million views.

It wasn’t just fans who wanted to keep a souvenir of the Coliseum that opened back in 1966. A’s closer Mason Miller collected dirt from the mound following the team’s 5-1 loss against the Rangers on Wednesday night. A’s first baseman Tyler Soderstrom was also seen collecting a souvenir.

Even San Francisco Giants outfielder Mark Canha collected dirt on the final-ever game of the Bay Bridge Series. Canha played for the A’s for seven seasons.

It wasn’t just dirt that fans were trying to take home.

According to a viral clip on X , a couple of A’s fans appeared to be pulling two Coliseum seats off the ground. That video has garnered nearly 10 million views on the social media platform.
