SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — A windowpane on the Transamerica Pyramid shattered on Thursday night, reportedly sending glass raining down onto the sidewalk and street below. A spokesperson for the iconic property’s owners, SHVO, told KRON4.com that the glass was damaged during a routine cleaning.

According to a post on Reddit , shards of glass fell from the building at around 6:45 p.m. No one was injured in the incident, according to the property owner, and an on-site team responded quickly.

The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection told KRON4.com it wasn’t alerted to the event until Friday morning. The department dispatched a building inspector to the site to evaluate the situation. The inspector issued a Damaged Building Notice, which required the property owner to secure the opening where the glass fell or was broken, and to replace it as soon as possible.
