OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — Thursday marked an end of an era for Major League Baseball in Oakland. More than 45,000 passionate Athletics fans watched their team’s final game at Oakland Coliseum. Parents and grandparents who grew up going to A’s games brought their children and grandchildren to cheer one last time.
A’s legends, including Rickey Henderson and Dave Stewart, threw out celebratory first pitches. The Coliseum thundered with “Let’s go Oakland,” chants as the A’s beat the Texas Rangers 3-2.
After the game’s last out, A’s players gathered in the middle of the field and tipped their hats to the emotional crowd.
