SAN MATEO, Calif. (KRON) — The San Mateo Police Department (SMPD) said a woman accused of stealing almost $3,000 of merchandise from Target fought with officers during her arrest.

SMPD said a loss prevention agent at the Target, located at Bridgepinte Shopping Center, tipped off police at 11:16 p.m. Thursday when he spotted the suspect stealing items from the store.

Officials said officers arrived on scene and found the suspect “with two shopping carts filled with items.” Police said the suspect, later identified as Kristen Martin-Boileau, became aggressive when officers tried to detain her. SMPD alleged she “became violent and kicked an officer in the leg” when officers attempted to have her sit in the back of the patrol car.

Investigators said $2,903 of stolen merchandise was returned to Target.

Martin-Boileau was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail, said police.
