    Fruitvale and Lake Merritt BART stations reopen following fatality on the tracks

    ( KRON ) — Fruitvale and Lake Merritt BART stations have reopened after being closed Wednesday night following a major medical emergency involving a fatality on the tracks. The fatality occurred at Fruitvale Station just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to Bay Area Rapid Transit.

    A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play, BART said.

    The Fruitvale and Lake Merritt stations in Oakland were both closed, BART said. There were delays on the Berryessa line in the Dublin/Pleasanton, Berryessa, Richmond and Daly City directions.

    BART said the power was cut at the Lake Merritt station due to the death at the Fruitvale station. KRON4 has inquired for more information on the death. BART says it is under investigation.
