SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — Police took one person into custody on Thursday night after shots were fired at plainclothes officers in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood, the San Francisco Police Department said.

The shots were fired at 9th and Mission at about 8:15 p.m., police said. There are no reports of victims struck by gunfire.

SFPD chased down the suspect and arrested them with help of the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department.

“Tonight, members of the SFPD were shot at,” said SFPD Chief Bill Scott. “This violent episode highlights the dangers our officers face every day. I want to thank our brave officers for their heroic work and for making an arrest to take a violent suspect off the streets. Thank you to the SF Sheriff’s Office for your assistance in this case.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with “SFPD.”
