( KRON ) – The National Weather Service has extended the excessive heat warning yet again. The heat warning, which was issued on Sept. 30, has been extended to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

KRON4 meteorologist John Sharble forecasted that the weather will be cooler starting Sunday, however, temperatures will still be hot until next week.

“Temperatures will climb a few degrees tomorrow just enough to get us back into the triple digits,” said Sharble. “True relief comes along next week with highs closer to average by Tuesday.”

According to the NWS, downtown San Francisco can potentially get up to 87 degrees. The temperature on the coast could reach up to 95. The most heat will be inland, which could reach 108 degrees.

The weather service strongly advises drivers to not leave pets or people in vehicles. Staying hydrated, taking cooling breaks and limiting outdoor activities can assist in staying safe, according to the NWS.
