SAN FRANCISCO ( KRON ) — The 7th Street off-ramp from eastbound Interstate 80 in San Francisco is shut down Tuesday morning due to an injury crash, according to law enforcement. The San Francisco Police Department is investigating the collision and has closed the ramp.

SFPD is advising drivers to avoid the area and anticipate delays as emergency crews work to clear the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, a severe traffic alert has been issued and there are injuries as a result of the crash.

The CHP initially called the incident a hit-and-run, but later updated its log to indicate it was a result of “highway violence.” The CHP log indicates a vehicle led SFPD on a pursuit and crashed into multiple vehicles.

One suspect has been taken into custody, according to the log.
