( KRON ) — The San Mateo Police Department fielded several calls Monday morning from people reporting that a man was breaking mirrors and windshields of parked cars while walking down South Fremont Street.

San Mateo officers located a suspect, identified by police as Carlos Utan, 29, of Burlingame, who matched the description given by callers and detained him. Investigators found eight parked cars with damaged car hoods, broken side mirrors or broken windshields, SMPD said. Utan allegedly used a paint roller to hit the vehicles as he walked the street.
