OAKLAND, Calif. ( KRON ) — A man who allegedly broke into a downtown Oakland shoe store early Thursday morning apparently got stuck inside before police arrived to handcuff him.

The Oakland Police Department responded just after 2 a.m. to 598 Seventh Street on a report of a burglary, authorities said. According to The Shoe Spot’s owner, he received a call from a neighbor about his business, which has been in operation for at least 27 years, being burglarized and learned that the suspect broke a small glass panel to gain entry.

The suspect became stuck inside the store and was unable to get back out, the store owner said.

Oakland police officers arrived to take the suspect inside the business into custody and are seen on video (watch above) leading a man out of the store in handcuffs.

The store’s owner said there was no loss to the store other than the damages to his window. After a break-in two years ago, the store’s security had been reinforced, he said.
