( KRON ) — The Christian Dior store in Union Square was burglarized early Friday morning, the San Francisco Police Department said. Around 2:42 a.m., officers spotted three vehicles “recklessly driving away” from the luxury designer store located at 185 Post St. in downtown San Francisco.

SFPD tried to conduct a traffic stop on one of the three suspect vehicles, which was going at a high rate of speed and ran a red light, according to the law enforcement agency. Officers did not continue with the pursuit due to public safety risks.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that two vehicles were parked in front of the store, and a third backed into the doors to force entry, SFPD said. Multiple unknown suspects then went inside the store and stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise.

As of Friday afternoon, no arrests have been made. SFPD said it is working to return the stolen merchandise to the store.

“This kind of brazen crime will not be tolerated in our city,” SFPD Chief Bill Scott said in a statement. “Our investigators have numerous leads they are following thanks to the large amount of evidence we have available, including video surveillance and ALPR hits.”

Friday’s Dior burglary marked almost exactly one year since the same luxury retailer was victim to a smash-and-grab. Last year’s incident happened on Oct. 12, 2023. The most recent Dior burglary in Union Square happened on Oct. 11.
