    Expired registration leads police to discover bag of ammunition

    ( KRON ) – A felon on probation was found with multiple rounds of ammunition in Colma, according to the Colma Police Department announced on Friday.

    At 12:07 a.m. on Sept. 25, Colma police officers noticed a BMW parked near a store’s entrance in the Serra Center Shopping Center. Police said the BMW’s registration had been expired for more than two years.

    Officers approached the driver, who was later identified as 45-year-old Berkeley resident Ismael Gonzalez.

    Colma PD said Gonzalez was on active probation and could not own a firearm or ammunition. Police located a plastic bag containing multiple rounds of rifle ammunition in the vehicle.

    Gonzalez was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition.
