(KRON) — The Marin County Fire Department (MCFD) has determined that an electrical issue sparked a vegetation fire near Point Reyes Petaluma Road in the Chileno Valley area on Tuesday night.

Reports of the fire came in just before 8 p.m., according to MCFD. When crews arrived, they found a residential building at risk from the blaze.

Marin County fire crews worked to protect the structure while additional units focused on containing the fire. By 8:45 p.m., firefighters had stopped the fire’s forward progress, and no structures were lost. Crews remained on scene overnight to mop up and ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

MCFD officials confirmed the fire was caused by an electrical issue.

The department urges residents to remain vigilant during the Red Flag Warning this week, as strong winds and low humidity could increase wildfire risk.
