SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Fire crews were on the scene of a two-alarm apartment complex fire that injured two people and affected two units, according to the San Jose Fire Department (SJFD).

SFUSD Superintendent Matt Wayne expected to resign

The blaze was reported at 5:43 p.m. Thursday on the 2300 block of Lucretia Ave., prompting residents to avoid the area.

SJFD officials stated that firefighters successfully limited the fire damage to two units—one directly above the other. Four adjacent units are expected to remain habitable after sustaining only “light smoke damage.” The initial knockdown was reported at 6:02 p.m., but traffic on Lucretia Ave. is still impacted, said SJFD.

The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) also assisted SJFD with the evacuation of nearby apartments.

The severity of the victims’ injuries is still unknown. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
