(KRON) — Daniel “Danny” Lopez-Curiel, 21, was arrested on Tuesday after a July incident where he fled from California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers while brandishing a handgun, said officials.

The incident occurred on July 19 when officers spotted a black Honda Accord. As Lopez-Curiel exited the vehicle and fled, he displayed a firearm, ignoring commands to stop, said CHP. Despite a search, he was not found.

CHP said officers later found a loaded handgun at the scene, and the Honda was confirmed stolen. A cellphone was also discovered, prompting an investigation by the CHP Oakland Area Major Crimes Unit.

On Oct. 16, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Lopez-Curiel’s home, uncovering additional evidence linking him to the stolen vehicle and firearm, including aftermarket key fobs, key programmers, and multiple shaved keys believed to be used for vehicle theft, said investigators.

Lopez-Curiel was arrested in Union City and booked into Santa Rita Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, and firearm violations, said CHP. The investigation is ongoing.
