( KRON ) – A man was robbed and kidnapped by a woman he met online, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

The robbery occurred on Thursday. The victim told police he conversed with a woman on Facebook, identified as San Mateo resident Luciana Romano, for “dating purposes” for two days.

When the two reportedly met at a Hillsdale Boulevard location, police said Romano threatened the victim as they were walking to his car. According to San Mateo PD, Romano demanded to be driven to a San Carlos gas station and for the victim to withdraw money at an ATM.

Romano then forced the victim to drive to a San Carlos motel for a “brief stop.” Police said Romano then required the victim to drive back to San Mateo, where she fled on foot in the 100 block of 37 th Avenue.

The victim contacted San Mateo PD at 8:12 p.m. The victim provided officers with Romano’s photos, which led to her identification.

The following day, police located and arrested Romano outside of her apartment.

Romano was booked into the county jail for kidnapping and robbery charges.
