The National Weather Service issued heat advisories for a majority of Louisiana Sunday afternoon that remain in effect as of Tuesday morning. While the heat advisories issued for New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport are expected to end at 7 p.m., it is "up in the air" whether or not they will still stay in effect through Wednesday, according to NWS forecaster Christopher Bannan. The extension depends on the timing of forecasted storms, Bannan added, considering portions of Louisiana will not heat up if storms develop early in the morning.
