ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Northern Río Grande National Heritage Area (NRGNHA) has entered a very busy time of year.

Currently, the organization has its grant season open, and they’re also starting an artist business class alongside Northern New Mexico College.

Director Eric Vasquez with NRGNHA explained their grant is available for any organization (such as a nonprofit or local/tribal government) for help with projects up to $10,000. For information to apply, click here.

Vasquez also touched on their upcoming events. One is a class for artists. It’ll offer guidance and training for artisans and creators who want to expand their work into a business. They’ll learn about business models and media creation; participants will receive a free website and business cards to kick-start their progress. The class is free and runs every Friday from August 30 to November 22.

The last event he spoke of was the Cultures and Creators Visual Arts Festival . It takes place in September and highlights New Mexico’s art and culture. Artists can apply to be involved, but the deadline is August 17.
