NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A group of University of New Mexico students hopped on their bikes this summer to ride cross-country.

Connor Donovan, Lars Larsen, Ezra Duree, and Francis Packard, three of them being UNM students, call themselves the “Future Cowboys,” saying they feel like bicycles are “futuristic horses.”

They started their trek in Seattle, Washington, on May 20, and biked east to Coney Island, New York, in mid-July, crossing rough terrain in the process.

While four started the trip, only three made it to the east coast. Duree dropped out at roughly 600 miles, but Donovan said this trip had been an idea for years, and after a year of planning, he’s happy it finally became a reality.
