ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Fire Rescue will soon be able to see a 911 call before arriving on scene. The city’s Finance and Government Operations Committee will sign off on a $120,000 purchase for AFR allowing the department to use an app called “GoodSAM.”

The technology allows first responders to have live video communication with callers and uses artificial intelligence to check their vital signs. AFR says the app will help speed up response times. With a smartphone, dispatch would give callers a link to a website where first responders would be able to communicate with the caller via video. AFR will be the first department in the state to use the technology.
