    BCSO: Off-duty Albuquerque police officer killed Wednesday morning

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office said an off-duty Albuquerque Police Department officer was killed early Wednesday morning. Deputies were sent to a pedestrian death near Coors Boulevard and Chapulin Road in the South Valley around 12:45 a.m.

    Wednesday evening, APD confirmed it was Officer Bianca Quintana. She joined the department in 2022. Quintana started her career in 2020 with the Los Lunas Police Department.

    Albuquerque man sentenced for the 2023 murder of two brothers

    Details are limited but BCSO said Wednesday afternoon that it was a hit-and-run crash. Officials are working to identify the vehicle involved in the crash.

    This is a tragic loss for the Albuquerque Police Department and especially for the family and friends of Officer Bianca Quintana. The entire APD family extends our most sincere condolences to Officer Quintana’s family.
