NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Education leaders in the state celebrated the opening of a new network, that looks to connect hundreds of thousands of New Mexican students. The Statewide Education Network (SEN) is a broadband system that allows access across all connected schools into one centralized location.

This will make things like maintenance and cyber security easier for schools. “The schools currently are connected to the internet. But they handle that and manage that on their own, with their resources…sometimes with no resources. And they do the best they can. This network is a huge leap in terms of connectivity,” says broadband and technology manager Ovidiu Viorica.

This first phase of the project will connect eight schools. Phase two will bring in 50 more schools.
