    Albuquerque man sentenced for fatal 2023 shooting

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Isaich Lujan pleaded guilty to shooting and killing Nathan Barela in April 2023. Judge Jennifer Wernersbach sentenced Lujan to 12 years behind bars Monday.

    Police say Lujan shot and killed Barela at the Comanche Wells Apartments in Albuquerque. According to APD, Lujan was with his girlfriend when she received an inappropriate message from Barela. Police say Lujan used his girlfriend’s phone to respond to Barela, who came to the apartments, where Lujan shot and killed him.
