    California man facing firearms charges in New Mexico

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A California man is being charged with allegedly selling firearms without a license, interstate travel while selling firearms, and making unlawful transactions to promote the sale. Brian Joseph, 52, appeared in front of a federal judge and will remain in custody until his trial, which has not been scheduled.

    Court documents state that between October 15, 2021, and November 29, 2022, Joseph allegedly sold firearms in Bernalillo County without being licensed to do so. Joseph would travel from California to New Mexico multiple times to get guns and resell them for profit in California.

    Joseph is also accused of making financial transactions with proceeds from the illegal firearms sales. Documents state that over various dates in 2022, Joseph allegedly made many electronic transfers from Wescom Credit Union to PNC Bank for a total of $6,684.80.

    If convicted, Joseph faces up to 20 years in prison.
