[1] 3 homicides prompt investigations in Albuquerque – Three separate violent crimes in Downtown left three people dead. APD says the first happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday near 2nd St. and Gold. Police believe the victim was homeless and shot at close range. About 30 minutes later officers responded to a stabbing near 6th St. and Copper. Police say a man allegedly stabbed his brother following an argument. The third incident happened in the 1100 block of 4th St. just after 2 a.m. Police say a man and woman had stopped at a food truck, when a confrontation occurred, followed by a shooting. The man died on scene and the woman was grazed by a bullet.

[2] French authorities arrest Telegram CEO Pavel Durov at a Paris airport, French media report – The CEO and founder of the encrypted messaging service Telegram, Pavel Durov, was recently arrested at a France airport. A French arrest warrant for Durov was issued on allegations that Telegram was used for drug trafficking and money laundering as well as allowing the sharing of sexual content involving minors. The Bernalillo County District Attorney highlighted the platform as a source juvenile’s used to buy guns.

[3] More rain with widespread 80’s – As temperatures across the region rise from the morning school commute into the upper 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and lower 90’s by the afternoon, more moisture in the air, along with just enough daytime heating, will lead to more areas receiving rainfall. The northwestern majority of the region has the best chance of rain for today with the flash flooding risk higher in the early-to-mid afternoon.

[4] Rio Rancho bowling fundraiser collects money for veteran business owners – The Veterans Business Support Coalition hosted the annual ‘Back Our Veterans’ bowling tournament to help raise grant money for veteran-owned businesses. The money benefits businesses three years or younger with fewer than 15 employees. The coalition hosts three events each year aimed at raising money for veteran-owned businesses.

[5] NM teen helps USA team defeat Australia in junior bull riding competition – A team of American junior bull riders, including three New Mexico teens, made their mark in Australia after winning a bull riding competition. Jace Green, a 13-year-old New Mexico native from Dexter was on of several members who rode against team Australia in the competition. The team returned after competing for about three weeks. Green earned almost half of his team’s points to beat out Australia.
